Hervieux and Botuha creations

Every Instrument - its Own Personality

After years of research and development aimed at restoring the veuze to its rightful place, the Workshop of Hervieux and Botuha have produced instruments worthy of the tradition and at the same time they have responded to the challenge of innovation by producing instruments which are more and more unique and expanding in range !

Take a look at the following veuzes which have been produced entirely within the workshop and which meet the needs of the beginner and the most exigent of professionals alike.

The veuze

Presentation

ver a a considerable period of time this instrument was abandoned more and more by the younger generation in favour of the violin and the accordion, but has experienced a revival since the 1980s. The Tudual Hervieux/ Jorj Botuha Workshop took a particular interest in this instrument and was responsible for its rise in popularity and launching young veuze players on the public stage !S’intéressant à la facture de cet instrument particulier, l’atelier Tudual Hervieux & Jorj Botuha a remis la veuze au goût du jour et fait remonter les jeunes veuzoux sur les planches !

Today, the workshop offers instruments in C, B flat and F turned in boxwood, sorbier, and blackwood. The veuzes are decorated using ferrules in wood, horn or imitation ivory, making each piece original in its own right

The design is inspired either directly from the old instruments or resulting from years of research research on materials, bores, reeds and bags as well as observations on how the players play : there is a key on the chanter, a stop key on the drone and a bung for changing key etc

In the direct line of personalities such as Roland Le Moigne ; Jean-Yves Seveno, Christian Perroteau and Thierry Bertrand, Hervieux, father and son and Jorj Botuha have succeeded in achieving a first class method of production the fruits of which can be appreciated through today’s veuze music performances
